Shades of New Orleans in Ohio PDF Print E-mail

Residents of Valley View Ohio, as well as other areas stricken by recent flooding, have gotten a small taste of conditions following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans last year.
NewsChannel5 reported that police are now trying to stop looters who are trying to take advantage of flood victims.

Valley View's chief of police said that after the floodwaters receded, it was a free-for-all.

Unline New Orleans, there was no attempt to disarm the victims of the flood and leave them defenseless.

This story serves as a vivid reminder that disaster can strike anywhere, and that we must always be prepared. Canned food, bottled water, flashlights, and survival kits do you little good if they are taken from you by looters or if you are the victim of a criminal assault.

After the New Orleans police confiscated firearms from law-abiding citizens and left them at the mercy of the lawless, legislative reform quickly spread across the country to prevent such a travesty of justice from occurring again.

Victims of a natural disaster have enough to worry about without having to deal with being further victimized by their own government.
