The following quotes might seem like parody, but there were part of a June 30th news story from the BBC:
"The fact that there were 130 knife attacks in one month just appals me and it proves that we are not doing enough."[sic]
Lord Advocate of Scotland Lord Boyd QC has warned that anyone tempted to carry a knife in Scotland now faces automatic custody if caught.
Under new guidelines issued by his office, anyone caught with a knife faces being held in custody after arrest until he or she appears in court.
"Communities can have confidence that those who carry, or use knives on our streets, will be swiftly dealt with."
The gun-grabber paradise of Great Britain has experiences skyrocketing rates of violence after enacting a near complete ban on firearms. With most law abiding citizens disarmed, and strict laws in place prohibiting using deadly force for self-defense, criminals are now free to ply their trade without fear of reprisal from their victims.
Now, British officials are learning that their attempts to crack down on even carrying a knife for self defense are faring no better at reducing violence.
There were some 91 serious knife attacks in England and Wales from May 24 to June 30, research by the Press Association news agency found.
According to Home Office statistics, 236 people were killed by a sharp instrument in England and Wales in 2004-05.
These figures include incidents with instruments other than knives, such as broken glass, swords or machetes. In 2003-04 the figure was 234.
Weapons confiscations, whether they are guns, knives, or sticks do nothing but disarm the law abiding. Those who are inclined to do violence will do violence regardless of what tools you try to ban. They will either obtain the prohibited weapon illegally (they are, by definition, criminals) or turn to another weapon to accomplish their goals.
First they came for the "assault weapons", then the handguns, then sporting arms, and now knives. There has even been talk about attempting to ban scissors and baseball bats. All for nothing. Will law-abiding Britons finally speak up when they come for the sticks and stones? |
