A disgruntled grocery store worker in Tennessee went on a stabbing rampage Friday before being stopped by an armed citizen. Elartrice Ingram, 21, was subdued by Chris Cope, manager of a financial services office, after stabbing 7 co-workers. Ingram was in the process of chasing an eighth victim, who suffered from heat-related symptoms after the chase. Ingram chased the co-worker into the parking lot, where Cope observed the incident and retrieved a handgun from his vehicle. "When he turned around and saw my pistol, he threw the knife away, put his hands up and got on the ground," Cope told The Associated Press. "He saw my gun and that was pretty much it." Fortunately for everyone, the parking lot for the shopping center was not posted with "no guns" signs as some in Ohio are. Cope, a law-abiding citizen, was able to bring the assault to an end without firing a shot in a scenerio that plays out hundreds of thousands of times each year. Police soon arrived to arrest Ingram, and he is facing nine counts of attempted first-degree murder. Click here to read the full article. |
