The Tony Gordon Memorial Award, given to a person who has worked hard for self-defence rights in Ohio, was presented to Jim Aslanides for all of his work on concealed carry reform in Ohio. A special Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Dennis Walker for all of his hard work fighting for gun rights for the last two decades. Dennis is retiring from Ohio activism and planned to move to Texas just days after the picnic. This year again saw valuable door prizes being awarded to the picnic attendees. A very special thank you to Gander Mountain, Blackwing Shooting Center, The Powder Room, Lightning Arms, and more for their generous donations (remember to support those who support you!). Prizes included several Surefire flashlights, a couple of shooting bags, pistol cases, a knock-down target rack, gift certificates, and more! The grand prize was awarded to Gary Reiff, who had a choice of three firearms and chose the 9mm Springfield XD. OFCC also unveiled the new Firearms Freedom Podcast t-shirt, which will be going on sale later this week. The shirt created quite a buzz, and two were given away as door prizes. Podcast host Dan White also conducted a couple of on-site interviews which will be featured in the next podcast. All in all, it was a fun and successful day, and many participants said they couldn't wait until next year's event. For pictures of the event, click here! Additional photos taken by James Beatty can be found here too! (some of them are better than the ones I took above) |
