Sunday, Canada's strict gun control laws disarmed multiple victims as an armed carjacker rampaged through Calgary. According to The Calgary Sun, the carjacker stole 6-7 cars (reports varied), threatened drivers at gunpoint, took one hostage, fired at least one shot, rammed numerous vehicles, injured several bystanders, and finally crashed into a poll in front of a school. The carjacker and apparent hostage were rushed to the hospital after the crash. Fortunately, the attacker managed to stop himself before causing even more mayhem. Other than police, there was no other real threat to his insidious plans as law abiding Canadian citizens don't have the right to properly arm themselves against violent attack. The Sun reporter got it right, it was innocent people who were being hurt. Being hurt by someone they were all powerless to defend themselves against. The law made sure of that. The one person the law couldn't disarm was the criminal who, despite suffocating gun control laws for handguns, was able to obtain a firearm and use it to his advantage. Fortunately, none of the innocent victims were killed during the crime spree. But, they found out first hand just who all those gun control laws disarm. As expected, it wasn't the bad guy. |
