Disney Bends a Little on Gun Ban PDF Print E-mail

After initially claiming they were exempt from a new Florida state law prohibiting employers from banning firearms in their employees' personal vehicles due to the fact that Disney has fireworks, the company has backed off a little.
"Until further clarification is received, Cast Members at those facilities . . . will be allowed to keep a gun locked in their personal vehicle as long as they have a concealed-weapons permit, the gun is not visible, and the gun is not removed from the vehicle or exhibited for any reason other than lawful defensive purposes," Disney said in a written statement.

"Those facilities" are those Disney properties which do not store or use fireworks. The NRA has been involved in challenging Disney's ban, particularly after an employee was fired for defying the policy in an act he believes was in compliance with state law. His case is still pending in court.
