From The Cleveland Plain Dealer, AKRON - A man was struck and killed by a car last night while he was running from a store he had just attempted to rob, police said. Updated @ 5:06pm: PD/Associated Press has more details on this story here.

Police said the man, who has not been positively identified, entered Khaled's Mini Market on S. Rhodes Ave. about 6:20 p.m. Shots were fired, and the man ran from the store and tried to cross the intersection of Rhodes and Bishop when he was hit by the car.

He was taken to Akron General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:59 p.m. The Summit County Medical Examiner did not know last night whether the man had been struck by gunfire.

The owner of the market, who was not identified, was not injured. Neither the driver of the car that struck the man nor a passenger in his car were injured.
