Today's USA Today Front Page has this article about murders in Cincinnati being on the rise -- 76% higher that is.
While racial tension, low police moral, the economy, and many other factors are likely playing a role in this violent trend, one question needs to be answered -- What role did the Ohio Supreme Court play when they decided to disarm the common citizen in Hamilton County? Since the landmark ruling by a Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge and the appeals court declared existing prohibitions on concealed carry unconstitutional the media has covered the issue like a hawk. After nearly two weeks of "vermont style carry" in Cincinnati the Ohio Supreme Court issued an "emergency" stay allowing police officers to arrest and charge with a felony, any individual carrying a firearm. Did this information, which was clearly broadcast through every imaginable form of news media, somehow give the criminal element of Hamilton County a boost of moral? Are they more sure of themselves? Are they more confident that their victims have been disarmed by unconstitutional laws which the criminals have no respect for in the first place? |
